Stay Tonight

ÀNÌKÉ- Day 11

Stay Tonight

let’s calibrate our hearts with longings,
let’s remove the spectacle on the night’s eyes
& let her watch our dwindling bodies
scouting desires with fingers & moans,
let her watch in awe the awesomeness of the art
that is us, that is the magic we make
when we come together on a Friday night
for turns around glasses of each other’s flesh,
let her take the sermon of our love to dawn,
to the sun rising in the east in yellowness & beauty.
stay tonight, let me walk you down
the route to the climax of your soul,
let me pour me in you like salvation pouring
light into a body full of pain and pangs,
call me anything closest to your mouth,
for this love will show you how to give names
to things that have been mourning before anyone dies,
things that sit on the shelf like a memory in tattered dress.
Baby, call me in my mother tongue,
give me a reason to build wildfire on your body
& let us burn, burn the night to ashes,
let us burn these bodies in love’s name & wake up
to an ashy dawn, to a wildness full of art & angels.
