Before his marriage to Deborah, Barry was married twice. His first marriage to Barbara Dodson produced two children, a boy, and a girl, while his second marriage, which was about a year to Lynn Ross produced no children.

Deborah Dubois and Barry Seal met in 1972 when Barry, who had been arraigned for attempting to smuggle military explosives, headed for a court hearing.

She revealed that he charmed her on their first meeting. She was just a 21-year-old girl while he was 33.

On his way to the court, Barry had stopped at the restaurant where she worked as a cashier and immediately asked her out, accompanying it with tails of his mission as a pilot. 

Eventually, the two got married in 1973 and had three children together, until Barry’s unfortunate demise in 1986.

Adler Berriman Seal, well-known as Barry Seal, was famous for his drug trafficking activities until he was shot dead in 1986.

He was born on July 16 1939 to Benjamin Curtis Seal and Mary Lou in Louisiana, USA.

He started flying at a young age and earned a student’s pilot certificate at 16. At 17, he received a private pilot’s certificate. 

Barry joined the Louisiana Army National Guard in 1962 and served for six years. In 1964, he became a flight engineer for TWA (Trans World Airlines), earning his way up to captain at a young age.

However, his career ended with TWA after his involvement in explosives smuggling in 1972. After his trial in court, the case was dismissed in 1974 for prosecutional error.  But, he had already lost his job with TWA.

Barry began smuggling drugs around 1976 and in the 80s he had grown to a big cocaine smuggler. In 1981, he began smuggling for Medellin Cartel, transporting by flight.

In 1984 he was apprehended and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. However, he was able to strike a deal with the authorities to testify against major drug dealers, which got him a reduced sentence.

In 1985, he began testifying in courts, and stood as a witness against three defendants, resulting in their conviction. After his testimonies, he was placed under probation due to his cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

Unfortunately, on February 19, 1986, just three weeks into serving his probation, Barry was shot dead in front of the Salvation Army Center.

His death led to the government seizing all his assets and estates, leaving Deborah and her children to fall back on his life insurance.

Furthermore, after his death, Barry has been portrayed in several films and television series. The most famous is American Made, released in 2017. 

The story tells the life of Barry Seal, especially on his drug smuggling. The producers had received consent from his wife, Deborah Dubois including some information about his life.

Also, Deborah had been paid $350,000 for selling the rights to Barry’s history.
